Horizon Health Care is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) to work at our busy community health care center in Woonsocket, SD. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A NURSE PRACTITIONER (NP) / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA)

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA), you work as part of a health care team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services. After greeting patients warmly and listening to their concerns, you study their medical histories and perform physical examinations. You also order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays.

After making a diagnosis, you develop and implement a treatment plan which may include providing appropriate referrals for consultations. You treat minor injuries by suturing, splinting, and casting. Within the scope of the supervising physician's written delegated prescriptive authority, you provide prescriptions for medications to accomplish the treatment plan

Providing patient-focused care, you always take the time to instruct and counsel with patients and their families about their treatment plan. You are also conscientious about completing appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered. You get great satisfaction out of seeing your patients heal and enjoy a better quality of life!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A NURSE PRACTITIONER (NP) / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA)

  • Licensed as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the state of South Dakota
  • Experience with electronic health records
  • Excellent patient care skills
